<p>PURPOSE: To perform high-precision spectral diffraction, separation, refinement, etc., by utilizing the difference in ionization efficiency between samples excited by infrared light and those not excited. CONSTITUTION: Infrared light and ultraviolet or visible light are simultaneously applied to a sample, and using the difference in ionization efficiency between the sample molecules excited by the infrared light and those not excited, only the sample molecules excited through infrared absorption are selectively ionized and the amount of ions is measured. In cases where this method is applied for separation and enrichment purposes, mixed samples including a target material are vaporized, infrared light whose wavelength is made to coincide with the infrared absorption of the target material is applied to the generated gas, and only the target material is ionized by means of ultraviolet or visible light. The generated ions of the target material are collected by means of an electric field with high efficiency.</p> |
