Solns. of tannin-based heat-curable binders (I) for cellulose-contg. prods. (II) comprise aq. alkaline solns. of tannins contg. units of formula (1). In (1), R = H or OH; the free valencies on the O atoms are either combined with H or form bonds with other molecular gps.. Also claimed is a process for the prodn. of cellulose-contg. materials, by mixing soln. (I) with (II) and processing in a mould at 160-210 deg.C and 0.1-4 MPa/mm<2>.
