966,282. Balancing rotary bodies. S. E. E. P. F. Jan. 8, 1963 [Jan. 26, 1962], No. 858/63. Heading G1X. [Also in Division F2] An automatic rotary balancing device comprises a drum 4 secured on a shaft 2, the annular space between them being divided by free compensating rollers 11, 12, 13 into compartments 17, 18, 19 communicating by passages 21, 22, 23 with an arcuate supply chamber 25 in a stationary member 27 fed with pressure fluid through an orifice 28. As the shaft rotates the fluid passes successively to each of the compartments 17, 18, 19 while its supply passage communicates with chamber 25 and leaks through the narrow clearance between the shaft and member 27 while communication is cut off, the rollers 11, 12, 13 moving between stops 14, 15, 16 in response to the varying pressures in the compartments. The pressure fluid may be a gas, such as air, or a liquid, the compartments in the latter case containing sufficient gas to act as accumulators. Specification 951,704 is referred to. |
