1. A method of installing intervertebral implants, the method comprising:
positioning more than one intervertebral implant between adjacent vertebrae, each intervertebral implant having a body portion with a first end and a second end, the first end being inserted first into the disc space followed by the second end; rotating an actuation member of at least one of the implants in a first direction to expand the intervertebral implant such that the implant is implanted at a different height, the rotation of the actuation member causing a translation member of the implant to move in a first direction, the translation member having at least one expansion portion having two ramped surfaces, the ramped surfaces abutting and pushing against ramped surfaces on upper and lower endplates of the implant causing the upper and lower endplates to move in a direction away from the body portion into an expanded position, and rotating the actuation member of at least one of the implants in a second direction, the rotation of the actuation member causing the translation member of the implant to move in a second direction, the expansion portion of the translation member having a pin, a portion of which is located within at least one slot located on one of the first and second endplates, the movement of the translation member in the second direction causing the pin to ride along the at least one slot thereby moving the first and second endplates toward the body portion into an unexpanded position. |
