PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming method or an image forming apparatus, and to provide a color image forming method or a color image forming apparatus, for preventing an increase in a residual potential due to accumulation of charge carriers in a charge generating layer or a charge transporting layer or preventing generation of a memory due to a hysteresis of the preceding image caused by imagewise exposure using a short-wavelength light source such as a short wavelength laser beam or the like. SOLUTION: The image forming method is characterized in that: an organic photoreceptor has a conductive support and a photosensitive layer comprising at least a charge generating layer and a charge transporting layer on the conductive support; the charge generating layer contains a charge generating substance having sufficient sensitivity to imagewise exposure and a charge generating substance having sufficient sensitivity to long-wavelength light at 580 nm or longer; and in a photo-destaticizing step, a residual potential of the photoreceptor is erased by irradiating the photoreceptor with destaticizing light at a wavelength of 580 nm or longer.
