PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique capable of assisting a user to determine the type of a medium.SOLUTION: A printing control device comprises: a printing execution unit which executes printing on a medium; a first storage unit which stores medium information indicating the characteristics of the medium; a characteristics selection unit which can select the characteristics of the medium; and a medium type specification unit which specifies the type of the medium in association with the medium information stored in the first storage unit with the characteristics of the medium selected by the characteristics selection unit.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
