PURPOSE:To manufacture a metallic honeycomb carrier wherein purification efficiency of exhaust gas is made excellent. CONSTITUTION:A temporary core 3 formed into a cylindrical shape is pressed and so deformed that the cross section is made elliptical. In the case, a regulation plate 4 is inserted into the through-hole 3a of the temporary core 3. The temporary core 3 is pressed and deformed until the internal circumferential surface of the through-hole 3a is brought into contact with both faces directed to the direction of thickness of the main part 4c of the regulation plate 4. Then, while the regulation plate 4 is pulled out from the through-hole 3a, an auxiliary corrugated plate 5 is inserted into the through-hole 3a. Width W and height H of the auxiliary corrugated plate 5 are set in the nearly same dimension as length L1 in the direction of the long axis of the flattened through-hole 3a and as length L2 in the direction of the short axis thereof. |
