PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect a specified image from one sheet of image data speedily with a simple constitution without using any background information. SOLUTION: Image data from an image data supply part 10 is divided by a band division part 20 into fHL including a horizontal high-frequency component and a vertical low-frequency component, fLH including a vertical high-frequency component and a horizontal low-frequency component, and fLL consisting of a low-frequency component. An edge detection part 30 detects a part, where an edge is present in a T shape by using fLH and fHL. Further, a symmetry axis detection part 40 calculates the degree of symmetry as to the part detected by the edge detection part 30 and a matching part 50 matches the part which is thus limited against a face standard pattern to detect the position of the face. |
