PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a holder device capable of easily adjusting a position of a sample in a height direction, and a processing observation method using the holder device. SOLUTION: The holder device 25 is structured of a sample stand 10 and a sample stand holder 30, which latter 30 is equipped with a main body 31 and a spring 32. The main body 31 has a holding part 33 formed, which 33 is equipped with the spring 32 biasing the sample stand 10 in a height direction. The sample stand 10 is provided with a fixed face 10a to which a sample 20 is fixed, an insertion hole 11, and an insertion hole 12. The sample stand 10 is made held by the holding part 33 so that the spring 32 is inserted into either of the insertion holes 11, 12, to position the sample 20 by a stopper 41, and then, the sample stand 10 is fixed. Further, as a protruded part of an adaptor is inserted into the insertion hole 11 for fixing, the sample stand 10 can be mounted on the sample holder exclusive for a grinder.
