PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To evaluate the resistance to the image retention of a photoreceptor by a surface potential from the history of an electrostatic latent image forming process of one time before in the photoreceptor without depending on the output of an image by repeating charging and exposure. SOLUTION: The photoreceptor evaluation device is mainly composed in such a manner that the timing of the ON/OFF of charging and exposure is taken in such a manner that the exposure writing width of a product between the linear velocity in the rotating direction of a photoreceptor by a first charger and charging time is≥n times (n is the integer of≥2) the drum circumferential length of the photoreceptor, and the exposure writing width in the circumferential direction (sub-scanning direction) lies within the drum circumferential length of the photoreceptor, so as to form an electrostatic latent image, and the potential history in the exposed region and unexposed region of n-1 times before is evaluated.
