PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain magnesia fine particles excellent in characteristics such as slaking resistance and fluidity by using magnesia fine particles having an average particle size less than a specific value in producing slaking resistant magnesia fine particles comprising magnesia fine particles and silica fine particles. SOLUTION: This production of slaking resistant magnesia fine particles is to mix magnesia fine particles with silica fine particles both having >=20μm average particles size by one method selected from 1) mixing them in the presence of water, 2) adding water and mixing them after dry mixing, 3) crushing them in the presence of water after dry mixing or 4) crushing them after dry mixing and then adding water and mixing. Then, the mixture is dried and crushed again to particles having >=20μm average particle size. By this method, the surface of the magnesia fine particles can be certainly improved, thus no problem of fluidity caused by slaking of magnesia comes out and the particles have no slaking. Thus, the monolithic refractory containing the magnesia fine particles is good in workability in execution works and the dense refractory excellent in durability can be obtained. |
