PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To appropriately limit a generation power according to driving conditions and to prevent power performance from decreasing, by calculating the required generation power of a generator, based on the driving conditions of a vehicle and the amount of charge of a battery, and controlling an engine and the generator based on the required generation power. SOLUTION: Required generation power of a generator 2 is calculated, based on such driving conditions as an accelerator pedal opening and a vehicle speed and the amount of a battery 4. Then, an engine coolant temperature is detected by a temperature sensor 10, and a generation power upper limit according to the coolant temperature can be calculated. In this manner, the upper limit of generation power according to the engine coolant temperature is set and the required generation power is limited to an upper-limit value or less based on the engine coolant temperature and the vehicle speed. However, when the vehicle speed exceeds a set value and the change rate of the engine coolant water is equal to or less than a set value, the required generation power is not limited, thus appropriately limiting a generation power according to driving conditions. |
