PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paste type cadmium electrode being excellent in active substance utilizing rate in which short-circuiting can be suppressed in assembling a battery even in the paste type cadmium electrode which can be obtained not through a chemical process. SOLUTION: A fiber bundle obtained by bundling two or more of single fibers made of a resin is dispersed in an active substance layer for a paste type cadmium electrode. The fiber bundle includes a conductive single fiber 1, which is fiber or the like including carbon powder in the resin. The single fiber made of a resin preferably includes cadmium and/or indium as a metal layer 2 at the surface thereof.
