PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a clutch mechanism for an electric vehicle with excellent operability. SOLUTION: A wheel housing 10 covering a driving wheel is provided on the rear side edge of an electric vehicle 1. A lever penetration groove 11 is opened on the side of the wheel housing 10 in the vehicle longitudinal direction. A clutch mechanism 8 is provided on the back of the body such that it is interposed between a driving motor 7 and the driving wheel. A lever 9 is provided protruding from the clutch mechanism 8 for longitudinal operation. The end portion of the lever 9 passes through the lever penetration groove 11 for lever operation enabling the clutch mechanism 8 to be longitudinally operated. Further, the wheel housing 10 is provided with a cover 21 to cover the lever penetration groove 11 and prevent unnecessary movement of the lever 9 such that the cover 21 can be freely opened and closed.
