N-[N-(3,3-dimethylbutyl)-L-alpha-aspartyl]-L-phenylalanine 1-methyl ester is converted from a light powder to relatively dustless, free-flowing granules using compaction, preferably roller compaction, and size reduction processes. These granules are suitable for use in a variety of applications. Food products sweetened with granulated N-[N-(3,3-dimethylbutyl)-L-alpha-aspartyl]-L-phenylalanine 1-methyl ester and methods of sweetening food products with such N-[N-(3,3-dimethylbutyl)-L-alpha-aspartyl]-L-phenylalanine 1-methyl ester are also disclosed.
