PURPOSE: A spool for a spinning reel for line winding is provided, which is as lightweight as possible while maintaining wear resistance and durability in the spool front flange. CONSTITUTION: The spool(4) for a spinning reel for line winding is fitted onto a fore end portion of a spool shaft that reciprocates back and forth relative to a reel body of the spinning reel. The spool(4) includes a bobbin trunk fitted onto the fore end portion of the spool shaft; a front flange having a first flange portion provided as a brim encompassing a fore end of the bobbin trunk, and protection unit for protecting an outer periphery of the first flange portion; and fastening unit for fastening the protection unit onto the first flange portion. The protection unit is removable from and re-attachable to the outer periphery of the first flange portion.
