<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reversible thermal recording medium which is excellent in erasability under a low-temperature and low-humidity environment, particularly erasability at a thermal head, and which has good image stability such as heat-resistant shelf life and humidity-resistant shelf life. <P>SOLUTION: In this reversible thermal recording medium, a reversible thermal recording layer containing an electron donative coloring compound and an electron accepting compound and forming a color state of relatively developing color and a color-erased state according to difference in heating temperature and/or the cooling rate after heating and a protective layer or the protective layer via an intermediate layer are sequentially provided on a substrate.
