Process for preparing waste bituminous roofing material

For reprocessing residues occurring in the repair or demolition of roof coverings with bituminous waterproofing, it is proposed to comminute the peeled-off coverings in a shredder plant down to a size of 6 to 20 mm and to fractionate the granules in an air classifier. The lightweight fraction containing only insulating materials is compacted and processed to form new insulating materials by the insulating material manufacturer. The heavy, bituminous fraction, with a maximum of 5% inclusions of insulating material, is ground to a grain size of 0.5 to 2.0 mm with the addition of conventional fillers and used in the production of bituminous compositions.
