PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique of freely controlling the amount of polymerizable groups and functional groups introduced by inhibiting skeletal decomposition and side reactions in the production of a dendrimer and a multibranched polymer. SOLUTION: The method for producing a multibranched polymer comprises reacting a mercapto compound with at least one (meth)acryloyl group of a multibranched polymer (A) having at least eight terminal sites including (meth)acryloyl groups by a conjugate addition reaction catalyzed by a fluoride ion compound (B).
