PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lens barrel that can be reduced in the dimension of a collapsed lens barrel in the direction of its optical axis, which is advantageous to achieving miniaturization, and to provide an imaging apparatus. SOLUTION: The case 102 of the imaging apparatus 100 has: a photographing optical system 104 for guiding a subject image to an imaging element 116; a lens barrel 12 for housing the photographing optical system 104; and a lens barrel 10 for housing a drive mechanism 70, etc., which drive the lens barrel 12. The lens barrel 12 has a fixed lens barrel 20, a first movable lens barrel 30 and a second movable lens barrel 40. The drive mechanism 70 includes a fixed-side coil 60, a fixed magnetic field generating means 50, a movable-side coil 62, and a current supply means 64. The fixed lens barrel 20 is provided with a fixed-side coils 60, the second movable lens barrel 40 is provided with a movable-side coil 62, and the first movable lens barrel 30 is provided with a fixed magnetic field generating means 50.
