PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reproduce a multiple-frame signal in uninterruptible manner and a higher probability, when transmitting a multiple-frame signal to a transmission path, in the form of connecting a plurality of frames. SOLUTION: Although a transmitting side device 101 branches a VCAT (virtual concatenation) signal 103 into a route X direction 131 and a route Y direction 132, the transmitting side device 101 further divides each of them into a plurality of transmission interface circuits 144 in a frame unit and sends out the signals to a receiving side device 102 through respective transmission paths 134X<SB>1</SB>, 134X<SB>2</SB>, 134Y<SB>1</SB>and 134Y<SB>2</SB>. The receiving side device 102 separately detects a failure in 134X<SB>1</SB>, 134X<SB>2</SB>, 134Y<SB>1</SB>and 134Y<SB>2</SB>, and a selecting part 117 performs switching control.
