A METHOD OF SEARCHING BENTONITE WITH DATA ON SAR

The present invention relates to a method of searching for bentonite with a synthetic aperture radar (SAR) image. The method, which uses the property of bentonite that bentonite swells in volume when absorbing moisture, includes: generating an SAR interferogram showing displacement of a ground surface by combining an SAR image during dry weather and an SAR image of the same location during humid weather, the SAR images obtained by radiating a microband radio wave from a sensor of an SAR and receiving a reflected wave from the ground surface; and exploring a wide area where bentonite may exist by using the SAR interferogram. The SAR interferogram of the present invention makes it possible to accurately measure a few mm to a few cm displacement of the ground surface in a wide area of several km^2. Thus, efficiency of exploration of a probable bentonite bearing site can be significantly increased.
