A backlight assembly of a display device includes a light emitting unit, and an optical member for controlling a path of light generated from the light emitting unit and traveling toward a display panel. The optical member includes first and second base films, and first and second optical parts. The second base film faces the first base film, and is more adjacent to the display panel than the first base film. The second base film defines first and second areas alternately disposed with each other. The first optical part is interposed between the first and second base films. The first optical part is placed in the first area to refract the light incident through the first base film. The second optical part is placed in the second area, and scatters the light incident through the first base film.
