<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a connector which has superior transmission characteristics and EMI characteristics to the high frequency signal and high speed signal by eliminating a noise generating source in a shield contact. <P>SOLUTION: The housing holds conductive signal contacts 31, 32 and a conductive shield contact 33. The shield contact comprises a holding part 33a held by the housing, a contact part 33b for contacting the connecting opposite part, a shield part 33c, and a terminal part 33d. The shield part comprises a plate type part 36 opposed to the signal contact, a coupling part 37 which is located between one end of the plate type part and the holding part and links these with a level difference, and a bending part 38 which is extended from the other end of the plate type part so as to be opposed to the coupling part. At least a part of the signal contact is covered by the plate type part, the coupling part, and the bending part.
