PURPOSE:To obtain a molded material which is superior in heat resistance, dimensional stability and chemical resistance, light weight and further nonflammable, by a method wherein a para-orientation type aramid sheet is press- molded under a state where it possesses specific tensile elasticity and thermal fixation is performed similarly to molding or after the molding. CONSTITUTION:A sheet to be employed is comprised of para-orientation type aramid (aromatic polyamid). The sheet possesses preferably the modulus of tensile elasticity of at least 600kg/mm<2> and possesses ordinarily tensile elasticity of at least about 10% at a room temperature. It is necessary to change a state of the sheet where tensile elasticity becomes at least 40% prior to press molding. The first method is one generating plasticization or expansion with a plasticizer, which is one employing, for example, water or DMSO or DMF or acetone or a mixture of those. The second method is one plasticizing with heat, which can be made into a state where high elasticity of at least 40% is possessed by heating, for example, at about 280 deg.C or higher, preferably at least 300 deg.C. |
