Device for filling an aerosol can with gas, the expulsion being controlled by a pump (3) crimped onto the can. Filling takes place through the pump (3), the device being movable between an upper - or rest - position and lower - or operating - position, characterised in that it comprises a sleeve (1) designed to fit onto the pump (3) when the device is in the lower position, this sleeve containing internally a cylinder (4) in which slides a piston (5) carrying a retractable needle (8) which can emerge from below to enter the pump (3) and open the gas filling passage by pushing back a stop flap (105), the cylinder (4) comprising an inlet (7) at the top and an outlet (10) at the bottom; and a channel (11) for transferring the gas between the inlet (7) and the needle outlet (8); there being means provided to limit the rate of escape of gas (10) from the cylinder so as to partially resist the descent of the piston (5) when pressurised gas reaches the inlet (7).
