Coal face shield structure with a take-off opening

The shield frame structure has a take-off opening (11) at the center of the suspended cap, with a sliding plate (27) operated by a sliding cylinder (28). The leading and trailing sections of the suspended cap form a closed surface. Two parallel beams are at the sides of the take-off opening (11) to give an effective support and optimum position at the edge of the opened coal seam. A flap chute (29) at the take-off opening (11) directs the extracted coal directly to the conveyor (9).
