PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an ink compsn. for gelled ink jet which is excellent in light resistance, water resistance, and image durability by compounding a vehicle, a colorant, and a hydrophobic gelling component into the ink composition. SOLUTION: A known vehicle, such as a liq. hydrocarbon, a hydrocarbon wax, oxazoline, an amide, or an ester, can be used, in a content of about 2-90 wt.%, pref. 25-50 wt.%. A pigment and a dye, a pigment, a dye, a pigment mixture, or a dye mixture can be used as the colorant, but an oil-soluble dye is pref. The content of the colorant is about 2-5 wt.%. As the gelling component, an alkylarylcycloalkanol, such as represented by the formula (wherein R is alkyl, aryl, alkoxy, H, a halide group, or halogenated hydrocarbon group), is used, a pref. example being trans-4-tert-butyl-1-phenylcyclohexanol. The content of the gelling agent is about 0.5-10 wt.%, pref. 1-3 wt.%. |
