A human body detecting device capable of confirming whether persons under nursing such as old people living alone are living normally or not with their privacy protected in normal conditions and capable outputting an alarm together with detailed image signals to nursing people when abnormal conditions are detected. The human body detecting device comprises an imaging unit (3), a human body detecting unit (6) for detecting a human body from image signals obtained from the imaging unit, a condition judging unit (8) for judging the conditions of a human body, and a normal signal/alarm signal output unit (9), the device further comprising a field memory unit (5) for storing the above image signals, a second memory unit (7) for storing human body-related pixel data contained in the above image signals in blocks of preset number of pixels and luminances and a selection means (10) for selecting, according to the judgement by the condition judging unit (8), between reading from the field memory unit (5) storing the above image signals and reading from the second memory unit (7), whereby reading from the above field memory unit (5) is permitted only when the condition judging unit (8) determines the abnormality of a human body. |
