<p>The spinning disc aerator is a motor driven device for effectively dispersi ng air into a pool of water with high energy efficiency. A vertical cylindrical duct is suspended by a float with its lower end in the water and supports a drive motor on its upper end above the water surface. A drive shaft is directly coupled to the motor and extends axially through the duct to terminate in a flat circular disc close to the immersed end of the duct forming a thin annular nozzle therebetween. Upon being spun by the motor the disc draws air down the duct and out through the nozzl e in the form of a thin air sheet having maximized surface area exposed to the pool water. Driven into the water by the spinning disc, the air sheet eventually breaks up into fine bubbles which are carried far into the pool by the swirling flow of wat er from the disc.</p> |
