PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber communication system for remote communication and an optical signal amplification device, which extends a transmission distance of an optical signal.

SOLUTION: An optical fiber communication system 1 comprises: a primary exciting light source 31 provided at least one of terminal stations A, B installed at both ends of an optical fiber 50 for transmission of an optical signal S for outputting primary excitation light R1; an EDF amplifier 40 for amplifying the optical signal S when the primary exciting light R1and the optical signal S are superimposed and inputted; and a secondary Raman light source 32 for outputting secondary Raman exciting light R2to amplify the primary exciting light R1when an optical fiber 50b is superimposed on the primary exciting light R1and outputted.
