PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a work-piece pretreatment method using a laser beam capable of removing a surface adhesion layer in a short time.SOLUTION: A method for removing a surface adhesion layer (Wa2) of a work-piece (Wa) by irradiation of a laser beam (LBe) includes a step for setting the laser beam as such a pulse laser beam (LBe) that a pulse width is 100 pico seconds or less and luminous flux at a focal position (F) gets to a segment shape and focusing the pulse laser beam (LBe) to the surface adhesion layer (Wa2); and a removal step for removing the surface adhesion layer (Wa2) by rotating the focused pulse laser beam (LBe) or moving the focused pulse laser beam to a direction intersecting to the direction in which the segment shaped luminous flux is extended.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
