The permanent magnet machine has a housing and a rotor made of a non-magnetic material, e.g. Al, each incorporating a number of regularly spaced permanent magnets (23,24). The housing magnets (23) are screened via at least one screening plate (25) of given size and weight, e.g. of soft steel, having a thickness which is dependent on the magnetic force when the screening plate lies between the housing magnets (23) and the rotor magnets (24), so that the screening plate (25) is suspended for rotation without resistance. USE - For providing energy for generator, vehicle etc.
