PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color scanner 1 that can read an image at a high-speed while realizing image display for confirmation nearly at the same time when the image is read through an interface having a low transfer speed. SOLUTION: A data quantity per unit time transferred at the same time of reading of the image by a single color extract processing section 3 is reduced to 1/3 of a conventional color scanner. Thus, an interface 8 with a low transfer speed attains single color image display for confirmation of read original information data. Furthermore, a storage processing section 4 stores original information data including two color remaining information data other than the color information data extracted by the single color extract processing section 3 and transfers the stored data depending on the transfer capability of the interface in much time after the end of reading.
