The drive has a sliding bed supporting a load and movably supported in a driving direction, and two rods (21) arranged in the direction. One of the rods is driven in a reciprocating manner around a stroke. A coupling device brings the bed in a retaining griff with one or other of the rods in an alternate manner in the cycle of the stroke. The rods are driven in the opposite direction. The coupling device has pins insertable in holes. An independent claim is also included for a fluid filling machine with a linear step drive.
