This invention provides conductive powder comprising polyhedral larger particles and flaky smaller particles. The aspect ratio of the smaller particles is not less than 3 and is at least 1.3 times larger than the aspect ratio of the larger particles. The conductive powder has been surface treated with a fatty acid. Since the conductive powder comprises polyhedral larger particles and flaky smaller particles, the contact among the particles is good. There is also provided a conductive paste using the conductive powder. In the conductive paste, the contact among the particles is not point-to-point but face-to-face contact. Accordingly, the conductive paste has excellent electric conductivity and thermal conductivity and further has excellent via hole filling properties.
