<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer which layouts a plurality of images with a lower-capacity memory and outputs a printed image for display. <P>SOLUTION: Images for display are resized according to a presently set resizing size S. The maximum storage number Nmax as the maximum number storable in a storage area of data for display is calculated (S210). When the number N of the images stored in the storage area of data for display matches with the maximum storage number Nmax, the resizing size S is set at a quarter (S240). Each image for display stored in the storage area of data for display is updated with an image sized by a newly set resizing S (S250), and an additional image is resized with the new resizing size S and stored in the storage area of data for display (S260).
