PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a digital camera to execute special photographing operation, such as consecutive or bulb photographing by a remote operation which uses a personal computer etc. SOLUTION: The personal computer transmits a consecutive photographic setting command and a release command to the digital camera, by depressing a button of a mouse (steps 101, 102). The digital camera executes shutter release (step 212), by receiving the release command, and transmits image data to the personal computer (step 214). While shutter release and transmission of the image data are performed continuously, when the personal computer transmits a consecutive photographing mode release command by releasing the button of the mouse (step 105), the digital camera releases the consecutive photographing state (step 205) and consecutive photographing is finished.
