摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lithium-nickel-manganese composite oxide that is excellent in discharge capacity and charge/discharge cycling properties, and to provide a manufacturing method thereof. <P>SOLUTION: The lithium-nickel-manganese composite oxide has a rock salt laminar structure represented by general formula of Li [Ni<SB>0.5-0.5x</SB>Mn<SB>0.5-0.5x</SB>Li<SB>x</SB>]O<SB>2</SB>(provided that 0.02&le;x&le;0.11), with the content of S element being 1,500 ppm or less and the content of adsorbed water being 0.7 wt.% or less. It is excellent in discharge capacity and charge/discharge cycling properties when it is used as a positive electrode active substance of the lithium ion secondary battery. Such lithium-nickel-manganese composite oxide is obtained by adding a lithium compound to a nickel-manganese composite compound synthesized by using a nickel compound containing an S compound and a manganese compound as a raw material, firing, then further washing, drying and firing the resultant. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
