<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide lithium nickelate having a large electrical discharge capacity, having a superior cycle property, being usable as a positive electrode active material for a lithium secondary battery suitable for industrial production and to provide its producing method. <P>SOLUTION: Lithium nickelate is produced by heating and firing a mixture of a lithium compound and a nickel compound under an oxidizing atmosphere and at the condition that the mixture which exists in a firing system and the lithium compound coexist and contact only in a gas phase. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
