PURPOSE:To provide a carbon-containing refractories capable of keeping high strength in a wide temp. range and its production method. CONSTITUTION:The objective refractories is obtained by adding and combining 50-97wt.% mixture of at least one kind among a fire resisting oxide, nitride, boride and carbide, 3-50wt.% carbon raw material and 0.5-15wt.% mesophase pitch powder which contains >=60% bulky mesophase having optical anisotropy and has >=70% carbonizing yield and furthermore, if necessary, adding a thermosetting resin such as phenol resin. |
