<p>PURPOSE:To provide a motion vector detection method and a motion vector encoding method capable of more accurately detecting the motion vector of an H band for which the increase of an arithmetic operation amount, additional information and a hardware scale is less compared to the case of detecting the motion vector using the same method as the one for an LL band. CONSTITUTION:At the time of obtaining the motion vector of the H band, the motion vector obtained from the LL band is position-corrected for the H band and defined as the reference motion vector 1 of the H band. In this case, plural candidate motion vectors are set at positions around the reference motion vector 1 and correlation between adjacent frames is obtained for the respective motion vectors. The motion vector provided with the maximum correlation as a result is defined as the motion vector of the H band. Further, at the time of encoding the motion vectors detected for the respective bands, the difference of the motion vectors is obtained between the bands and the difference value is encoded.</p> |
