PURPOSE: A roaming method of a dual mode terminal by using position information is provided to measure a position of a current terminal, and to prevent the terminal from roaming to a 2G network if the measured position is in a 3G network service area, to suppress an unnecessary driving of a 2G network modem, thereby reducing power consumption. CONSTITUTION: A system measures a current position of a dual mode terminal by using a base station. The base station decides whether the position of the dual mode terminal is in a 3G network service area, and supplies the decided results to the dual mode terminal. If the terminal is located in the service area, the dual mode terminal does not roam to a 2G network. When deciding whether the position of the dual mode terminal is in the 3G network service area, the base station compares the position of the dual mode terminal with self 3G network service area information, and confirms whether the dual mode terminal is located in the 3G network service area. |
