PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a simple method for recording an image with high safety and high degree of freedoms by realizing high image quality by using fine particle coloring material, and to be suitably used for the method. SOLUTION: This method comprises the steps of dissolving dye represented by at least general formula in aqueous liquid, disposing an image holding member and counter electrodes opposed to the member in the liquid, giving current or electric field between the member and the electrodes according to an image pattern, electrochemically precipitating an image forming material containing the dye represented by the formula to form an image on the surface of the member, where Ar<1> , Ar<2> denote aryl group, at least one of the Ar<1> , Ar<2> has -COSH group or -COOH group, J<1> , J<2> denote a specific group including a cyclic structure, X independently denotes carbonyl group or specific group having a cyclic structure, R<1> to R<4> independently denote alkyl group, and n denotes 0 or 1. |
