An online electrochemical analyser for the measurement of chlorites in water characterized by high selectivity even in the presence of interfering substances normally present with chlorites in drinking water plants and in all those plants where chlorine dioxide or chlorites are used as disinfectants and/or as oxidising agents.
Selectivity of the measurement is obtained by the optimization of parameters:
. electrode construction (e.g. material) and electrode dimensioning;
. the position of each electrode with respect to the other electrodes;
. hydraulic arrangement in the electrode holder (cell);
. the depolarizing system;
. the polarization voltage;
Advantages:
. selectivity for chlorites even in presence of the interfering substances normally included in the water to be monitored.
. long time reliability of the measure thanks to the depolarizing system and to the stability of the chosen reference electrode.
. low maintenance requirements because there is no moving part subject to wear, no physical cleaning means (e.g. sand) to be replaced, no mechanical cleaning system (e.g. as brushes) subject to wear.
. very low operating cost, since no reagent addition is required for the measurement.
