HIGHLY HYGROSCOPIC FIBER MATERIAL AND PRODUCTION THEREOF

PURPOSE:To obtain the subject fiber having excellent moisture-absorptivity and permeability, high flexibility in knitting and weaving and good feeling by kneading superfine powder of animal protein fiber to a polymer of chemical fiber material, forming a film from the mixture and slitting the film. CONSTITUTION:For example, superfine powder of oxhide 2 preparatorily dried to a water-content of 5-1,000ppm and superfine powder of a water-soluble substance (e.g. water-soluble gelatin) are kneaded to a polyurethane resin fiber 1. The water-soluble substance is removed from the mixture by washing with water during a film-forming process to obtain a film having a number of through holes 3 left after the dissolution of the water-soluble substance. The film is slit into thin strips to obtain the objective fiber material.
