PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical device in which the variable range of the center wavelength of reflection in the diffraction grating formed on the optical fiber can be expanded. SOLUTION: An optical device 1 has a U-shaped base body 2, an optical fiber 4 from which cladding is removed, and a piezoelectric device (PZT ceramics) 6. A U-shaped base body 2 has a bottom 2a and a pair of arm parts 2b and 2c extending from the bottom 2a. A voltage applying means 10 is connected to the piezoelectric device 6, the displacement quantity of which changes according to the magnitude of the voltage applied by the voltage applying means 10. The piezoelectric element 6 is fixed to the U-shaped base body 2 to connect the portion in the middle of a pair of arm parts 2b and 2c. A diffraction grating part 8 is formed on the optical fiber 4 without removing a covering part 4c. The optical fiber 4 is fixed to the end of the arm parts 2b and 2c of the U-shaped base body 2 in a state the covering part 4c is maintained so that the optical fiber part on which the diffraction grating part 8 is formed bridges the two arm parts. |
