<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of deriving a direct mode motion vector of a bi-predictive block of a present picture, which uses a co-located block of a bi-predictive picture. <P>SOLUTION: The method for deriving a direct mode motion vector comprises: determining a co-located block of a reference picture; selecting a list 0 motion vector as a motion vector for deriving a direct mode motion vector of a bi-predictive block regardless of whether to have a list 1 motion vector when the co-located block has a list 0 motion vector; scaling the selected list 0 motion vector of the co-located block of the reference picture; and deriving at least one among direct mode motion vectors of the bi-predictive block on the basis of the scaled list 0 motion vector of the co-located block. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT</p> |
