PURPOSE:To execute efficiently irradiation in accordance with the width of a recording paper by a small number of radiation heat sources, by detecting the width of the recording paper, and rotating the radiation heat source in accordance with the width of the recording paper so that the radiation heat source does not protrude beyond the width of the recording paper. CONSTITUTION:A flash lamp 1 is contained together with a reflecting plate in a lamp house 5, and its rotational angle is changed by a motor 9. Also, an optical sensor consisting of a light emitting element train 7 and a photodetector train 8, etc. is placed in order to detect the width of a recording paper. In this state, in case when printing is executed by using a recording paper 2 of width l', the width of the recording paper 2 is decided by a deciding part 10, by a signal of the photodetector train 8, and a deciding signal is sent to a control part 11. In the control part 11, a control signal to the motor 9 for controlling the rotational angle is generated, and the lamp house 5 is moved to a position of an angle theta'. In this way, a radiation heat source does not protrude beyond the width of the recording paper, and a useless radiation part can be eliminated. |
