<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inkjet printing method and an ink set which can obtain a printed matter excellent in glossiness and free from blur. <P>SOLUTION: (1) The printing method employs a coating ink which is constituted by compounding a cationic polymer particle obtained by emulsion polymerization under the existence of a cationic surfactant with the cationic surfactant, and after a recording medium is coated with the ink, the coated portion of the medium is overprinted with a water-based ink containing a colorant by an inkjet recording method. (2) The ink set is constituted of the coating ink prepared by compounding the cationic polymer particle obtained by the emulsion polymerization under the existence of the cationic surfactant with the cationic surfactant, and the water-based ink containing the colorant.
